This project aims to promote tourism development along the shore of one of the largest lakes in Central Asia, situated in Kyrgyzstan. Issyk-Kul is a vast alpine salt lake, one of the largest on the planet, situated in a region with a continental climate and surrounded by a mountainous natural landscape.
The master plan includes a hotel with 100 rooms, 15 in- dependent villas, and a restaurant, all positioned near the beachfront, along with service buildings and staff residences located behind the hotel.
The organic shape that characterizes the hotel’s layout stems from the desire to follow the curvature of the lake- shore. From the plan view, the curves become three- dimensional, defining the building with planes flexed into soft lines that embrace the structure’s volumes. While the curved planes create the solid parts of the structure and the roofs, all vertical closures forming the skin of the internal spaces are defined by the lightness of the glass.
On the building’s entrance side, the facade delineating the corridors of the rooms features a random alternation of glass and opaque panels decorated with motifs typical of Central Asian art. The continuity of this pattern and its sinuous structure is interrupted in two places by white, slender volumes that house the vertical circulation systems.
On the lakeside front, the horizontal flow of the railings de- limiting the room terraces prevails. Two low volumes with roofs that blend into the ground house the indoor pool and the restaurant, both of which open with large windows onto the park.
