Echoes of the Future: A Bedroom Design Rooted in Siberia’s Soviet Past

  • Year: 2025
  • Area: 300 m2
  • Architects: SELF

Tucked away in the vast landscapes of Siberia, Russia, lies a 350-square-meter residence whose essence bridges eras  from the raw ideology of its Soviet roots to the forward-thinking design language of the present. The bedroom, the heart of this project, pays subtle homage to the ideological and architectural vocabulary of the communist period. The structure’s concrete exterior stands as a testament to that time monumental, disciplined, and unyielding. Yet, once inside, the atmosphere transforms. Innovative materials and refined details infuse the space with a sense of timelessness, as if the room itself speaks softly from another dimension.Inspired by the dystopian yet profoundly human aesthetics of The Hunger Games, the design explores contrasts: austerity and warmth, power and vulnerability, the past and what lies ahead. Every texture, color, and line has been chosen to evoke both familiarity and curiosity  a space that feels lived in, yet distinctly otherworldly. This project invites you not merely to observe design, but to experience a narrative one where architecture becomes memory, and memory becomes vision.
